After 23 long years since the last time the President of China visited Nepal, another historic visit is set to be made by the current President of China, Xi Jingping. Though a couple of high-level visits may have been made in between by the Chinese Premiers, Xi Jingping’s forthcoming October 2019 visit to Nepal is believed to set a landmark and help in bilateral relationship between China and Nepal.

In fact, the relations between China and Nepal is more than just political and these countries have a long history of political, economic, religious, social and cultural relations. As a northern neighbor to Nepal where the countries share a long border of 1414 kilometers, each of them is of strategic significance to one another since a long time ago. The symbiotic relationship has become even more important in the context of Belt and Road Initiatives. China already has been involved in helping Nepal from many aspects from industrial sector to education and apparently infrastructure development. Kathmandu Ring Road Improvement Project is the major one that directly affects the lives of general public.

Now back to the Chinese President’s two-day state visit to Nepal: Xi Jingping is visiting Nepal on the official invitation of President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari. At the same time, the official talks is set to be held between the Chinese Delegates and the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during this historic state visit of the Chinese President where it is expected that some major bilateral agreements will be signed.
Since this historic visit by the Chinese President to Nepal has been given major importance as it is taken with great interest from national and international forums and levels, the Government of Nepal is doing all it can to ensure that the visit will be successful. From Aesthetics to Security, Nepal is leaving no stones unturned in this regard, literally. Since the visit is scheduled following the major festival Dashain, Kathmandu Valley has been decorated like it has never been before. The Tinkune Park has seen a major improvement, although for a while. New trees and plants have been planted overnight. Quality of roads have been improved within a short period of time. It is really amazing that so many works could be done is such a short period of time if one wants to. But social media has been flooded with the trolls that these infrastructure development works is short term and it would have never happened had the Chinese President decided not to pay the state-visit to Nepal.
The Federal Government of Nepal has declared the public holiday on Sunday in the context of the very visit. Since the very high level of security (Z+) is being provided to the Chinese VVIP, security arrangements couldn’t be compromised. It should be failsafe. Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force is mobilized to ensure the highest level of security during the visit.

Xi Jingping will be arriving Nepal from India on October 12, 2019 around 1600-1700 hrs. At 1830 hrs, he will be meeting the Head of the State and the Head of Government of Nepal. The President of Nepal will be organizing the Dinner at Hotel Soaltee at 1930 hrs. The Chinese President will be leaving Nepal the next day on Sunday afternoon at about 1300 hrs.

Let’s all Welcome the President of China XI Jingping and hope that the bilateral relationship between China and Nepal be enhanced and strengthened. This historic visit by the Chinese President would result in the historic outcomes for both the countries.

LONG LIVE CHINA-NEPAL FRIENDSHIP.
