About Friends
If
you have no idea about Friends, I suggest you stop reading right here
and go binge-watch all ten seasons of it. And then come back to this post. Rest
of the others… Welcome to the Friends Club.
What
started like just another sitcom back in 1994, Friends ended up being one
of the most binge-watched television shows in entertainment history. It’s not
just a sitcom, it’s the story of six friends, who come together from different
walks of life, and end up… being Friends. It is more than just a show. It
humorously explains and explores what it means to come of age in the 1990s, and
most of us in our 30s grew up watching these awesome six friends going through
up and down in their lives, careers, and relationships.
The main cast of Friends are:
Jennifer
Aniston (Rachel Green)
Courtney
Cox (Monica Geller)
Lisa
Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay)
Matt
LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani—How you doin’?)
Matthew
Perry (Chandler Bing)
David
Schwimmer (Ross Geller)
Back to Friends: The Reunion
We
hadn’t had enough of Friends from its 10 seasons. We didn’t want it to end. But
like every other thing in this world, nothing lasts forever. And that’s what
makes it worth cherishing. The Reunion is not just where the main casts of
Friends came back to relive their days together, but it is also an opportunity
for the audience around the world to get to know the untold stories with behind-the-scenes
footages, which makes the show even more awesome.
Central
Perk. Monica and Chandler’s apartment. Joey’s Apartment. Well, of course, they
were just the sets. And the production team did an amazing job recreating the
entire set of the original show, even that water fountain.
I
think that Ross, Rachel, and Phoebe are the only characters who look more or
less the same as they did in their final episode 17 years back. Of course, Ross
has gained some weight. Rachel still looks beautiful. Phoebe still has that
energy, and singing voice. However, Joey has aged significantly. Chandler as
well… Monika kind of doesn’t look the same.
Apart
from the main casts, Friends: The Reunion features some popular celebrity guests
to appreciate the show. David Beckham, BTS, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Reese
Witherspoon, Malala Yousafzai, and others. Friends episodes are always a go-to
thing whenever David Beckham is far from home and misses his family and
friends. Justin Bieber gets roasted once again, on the ramp walk dressed as
Ross’ Sputnik. Lady Gaga joins Phoebe to sing “Smelly Cat”. And the list goes
on… It’s just beautiful.
Friends: The sitcom that makes you cry, sometimes
Just
because Friends is a sitcom doesn’t mean that you can ROFL all the time. Of
course, there are plenty of LOL and ROFL moments, but it perfectly hits our
soft spot as well. The Reunion shows the BTS footage of the final episode “The
Last One”, aka “The One Where They Say Goodbye”, where all the casts and crew
members get emotional. The final scene is a beautiful combination of emotion
and humor. Rachel says, “Can we get some coffee?”, and Chandler replies as, “Sure…
Where?” Got it!? No!? Never mind!
Summing Up
If
you are like one of us who are old enough to know where the line “How you
doin’?” came from, I suggest you go watch Friends: The Reunion. It’s just 1
hour 44 minutes long. And you get to relive the original Friends days through
the Reunion. Isn’t that what the Reunion is all about!?
