Back when I was a 70RR probationer at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, the Academy Song was like an anthem for us. We had to sing it every day before the Indoor Session started, i.e. 0855 hrs. The song itself is so vibrant. The music is so addictive and the lyrics are so inspiring. I don’t know the name of the original composer and writer of the song. If you happen to know about them, please drop in the comment section below. They truly deserve the mention for creating such a beautiful song that will forever remain in the hearts of every IPS probationer.

Behind the Tabs and Chords

I got the basic chord progression worked out during my stay at SVPNPA as a 70RR Phase I IPS probationer. There is a fully equipped music room at Central IPS Mess. The Academy hosts cultural programs now and then on various occasions. It is a great opportunity for you to show your creative talents whether you are a dancer, singer or a guitarist, or anything! As a guitarist myself, I often used to spend my free time in the music room. That’s where the idea of working out the Academy Song came to me.

I wanted to perform the Academy Song instead of doing it on karaoke at the end of the cultural program. But that never happened. I didn’t have the band. Especially, the drummer. But I hope that the latter batches of IPS will have some musical talents to actually form a band and perform this Academy Song live.

Yeah… Enough Lectures! Let’s get started with the most legit and accurate guitar tabs and chords of SVPNPA Academy Song.

From my experience, anyone can play this song on guitar irrespective of their level of skill, unless, of course, you don’t know about the chords. So, grab your guitar, and let’s hit those strings!

But first… Tuning: Standard, of course. EADGBE. Sounds good!? Perfect!

I’ll explain the progression part by part for your convenience.

 

The song starts with a guitar strum intro. Yes, only guitar!
