Interesting Facts about Euro Cup 2020 (or 2021)

Euro Cup 2020
UEFA EURO 2020

The countdown to UEFA Euro Cup 2020 (or 2021?) has started. It goes by different names— UEFA European Football Championship or UEFA European Championship, or simply, Euro Cup. If the world wasn’t brought down to a halt given the COVID-19 pandemic, this quadrennial international football festival would have taken place a year back from 12 June 2020 to 12 July 2020. Thanks to the new normal, and, of course, vaccine, the all-time favorite football championship is scheduled to kick off in Rome on Friday, 11 June 2021 at 2100 hours CEST (GMT+2). The opening game is between Turkey and Italy (Group A) at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Unlike its predecessors, the 16th Euro Cup 2020 will be hosted by multiple European countries. Yeah, you heard it right. There’s no one or two particular host(s) this time. The tournament is scheduled to be held at 11 different venues (in 11 countries) across Europe. We have the G.O.A.T. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, the defending UEFA Euro Cup 2016 Champion eyeing for yet another consecutive Euro Cup Trophy. We wish them luck because they are sharing the same Group F with heavyweights like France and Germany.

There are 24 European countries ready to bring the beautiful game to life for a month. Unlike Champions League 2019/20, the Euro Cup 2020 (2021) brings the stadium back to life again with the spectators cheering the teams. Oh, they are gonna love this view!

Wembley Stadium in London is going to host the semi-finals and the final. Wembley is the largest stadium in the UK and the second-largest stadium in Europe. It is also popular for hosting other events as well. Remember those all-time popular concerts by Metallica, AC/DC, Eminem, Bon Jovi, Green Day… the list goes on.

Weren’t we talking about Football? Okay, back to Euro Cup!
