Legendary Band of Nepal-1974 A.D.

Six music lovers got together and formed the band 1974 A.D. Playing music, singing songs, being in the rhythm ,getting big hit was all part of the fun in music for the band members,it was not just hanging out,drinking beer and having local jam up session.It was creation which gave them pleasure.The satisfaction from their music grasped their own souls and that of their fans and before long they released their debut album ‘Time Out’ which was possible because of their total commitmet to the music field.after that there was no turning back and they didn’t also.Who want to leave all those fun and celebrations to be spoiled??

1974 A.D. plays a fusion of traditional Nepali folk music and western rock music using a combination of native and western instruments.They play mainly their own original composition.The favourite bands of this band are Pinkfloyd and Direstrait.

Phirij Syangden is the lead guitarist,vocalist,composer and lyricist of the band.He first got hooked into guitars at the age of 17.Nirakar Yakthumba is one of the founder members of the band and plays the bass guitar.He is also one of the composers and lyricist for the band.He started playing guitar when he was 12 and picked up his bass guitar at the age of 22.Manoj K.C. is the lead guitarst,keyboardist,composer,lyricist and recordist for the band.He started with tabala at the age of 10 and at the age of 12,he started playing the keyboard but at the age of 15,he picked up the guitars and joined the band 1974 A.D. at the age of 18 as the lead guitarist.

Adrian Pradhan is on of the firm backbone sitting behind his drums also playing blues harp,other percussions instruments and is also one of the composers of 1974 A.D. He started playing drum from the year 1989; along with singing,he started playing drum and joined the band 1974 A.D. in 1988.

Sanjaya Shrestha is other percussionist of the band with congo congos and various other skin instruments

Overall the band has got energetic,enthusiastic band members who always gave their best shot to enjoy the music.

Till now they have released six albums and latest and technically the last album ‘Pinjada ko Sunga’ which was a big hit.Few songs of the bands are ‘Pahilo Junima…’,’Samjhi baschhu….’,etc.

But now ,the vocalist,Phiroj Syangden has moved away from the band but not due to conflict among the members but due to some of his personal reasons..-Media
