How to best write a song!?

-->
This is the ultra post of my blog Musicmyth. Concerned about music, songwriting is one of the most integral part because they establish cause and effect relationship. Song is the combination of lyrics and music. A good song has good music and good lyrics.

And folks, it is important to know that the lyrics is the cause and music is the co-cause and eventually the song is the final outcome. So, I am going to give you here a lesson of songwriting. I am not the professional lyricist but I write simple lyrics for my friends. I used to be the bassist in my college. I generated my own original lesson from my own experience in writing the lyric. I hope you will find it much helpful. So pass a comment below this post.

Before you ever try to write a lyric for your song, the best thing to do is to just relax down in a bed and think about anything from where you could take the idea about writing lyric. As for me, I just think about the Metal-Rapcore legendary band_”Linkin Park”, Yes, this band rocks. So Join the group “liNKiN PaRk” on facebook. I am the admin of that group.

Oh, I was telling you about lyric writing. So I think about Linkin Park while writing lyric. I like the way the band tells a story through the song. The lyrist “Mike” is a genius. As for me, Linkin Park is the reference for lyric but I don’t extract the lyric from their song. So are you now thinking of your Idol Band. Good. Get going. ……….. Ok, it’s enough. Now get in to the subject matter. Take a pen and a paper. Hey, stop chewing up the pen. It indicates that you have a vacant mind. Yes that’s right. Remember any song by the band and write as much lyric as you could derive from it. This is my way to write the lyric. I feel satisfied with this unique exclusive method of mine. I will be telling you more about it in coming lines. Keep reading.

That was the most easy way of writing the lyrics, wasn’t it? Well, you could write lyric about any past experience of yours such as tragedy, break ups, losing a friend, betray, anger to your college teachers and DI, and bla, bla, bla.. That was for sad situation. If you want a happy song try out  something that makes you happy like relationships, finding a girlfriend,etc. PS:Never ever you could be a perfect lyrist.

Now lets get known about  some fundamental parts of the song….

Ø  Intro: As you are familiar with this term because most of the songs uses intro at the beginning. A brief introductory passage to a piece of popular music is generally known as intro. But it is not mandatory for the intro to have lyric which is totally situational. Linkin Park never includes lyric for an intro. But if you gonna include that stuff then you need to give your grandpa’s effort for that,i.e. it should start the mood of the song.

Ø  Verse: For a layman, a verse is just a piece of a poetry. Eventually, in music it means the same. Let me tell you verse of the song is that part which covers the most of the parts of the song. This is very sensitive part of your song. Any kind of mistake or hazards may damage your whole song. The lyrics in the verse must reflect the overall message of the song. Listen to LP to learn it.

Ø  Pre-chorus: it comes when the time for changing between screaming and singing comes in the song. The guitar plays ascending notes and the tone of vocals transcribes into the verse’s. it must be noted that there is contrast between the vocal tone of verse and pre-chorus.

Ø  Chorus: This part of the song repeats the particular set of lyric. The title of the song is usually taken from the chorus and it conveys the whole meaning of the song.

Ø  Solo: It is a musical composition in which a particular instrument is focused for playing esp. lead guitar. It is the sharp turn for a song because even a gloomy song can be moody at this point. But all you need is a good lead guitarist. Adding a bass player’s lead part is a good idea.

Ø  Breakdown: 21st century breakdown………., hell man, I was listening to that particular song by Greenday. Well let me tell you guys that my nickname in college is “Greenday”. Breakdown is simply the antonym for pre-chorus. Go back to Pre-chorus and read that and com to breakdown again……done with it….? Ok….! It uses the descending notes and you can use it to go back to the chorus provided that the later is heavier.

Ø  BridgeTo understand bridge, walk out and look for a real bridge above the river. That is what bridge really means. In song, if included lyric, it sounds as a concluding paragraph that may contain the chorus but it is done just to extend the song as by the chorus like.. Excluding lyrics from the bridge, it is like a mini solo or guitar fills.

Ø  Outro: this is the final part of the song. As the name suggests you are getting out of the song, ie taking an exit. You are done much with it. Now it is time to end down. You may use a fading effect or a fading guitar solo for it or also a descending vocal tone…….
