Are you having hard times memorizing the codes to
make mobile balance query and recharge? Are you one of those *400# or *901#?
Well, those are going to be the things of the past. Gone are the days of
multiple codes? Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has announced that the
customers can use the same codes for balance query and recharge operations from
now on. It doesn’t matter whether you are the NTC or NCELL subscriber, the code
will just work.
NTA has recently released a standard operating procedure requiring all the telecom operators to have the same query code for the subscribers’ convenience. The telecom service providers have to abide by this announcement by implementing the procedure fully within the next six months.
Until now, the query codes are different for each telecom service provider. Nepal Telecom Subscribers have to use codes with prefixes 412 and 400 for balance recharge and query operations respectively. Similarly, NCELL Subscribers are required to use 900 and 901 prefix
codes for the same operations.
So what’s the new code that works for all!?
Better late than never, this practice of common codes across the telecom services was much awaited. Irrespective of the services the subscribers are using, the code for recharge will be 122. For balance transfer and balance query operations, the codes are 133 and 144 respectively. Simple as that! Isn’t that cool?
Besides Codes
NTA has announced some new provisional changes in telecommunication operations. At present, three digit numbers are allocated for emergency services (100, 101), four digit for government services directly related to the public and five digits for special additional services. Ten digit phone numbers are allocated
for toll free service. However, the current toll free prefix 1660 will be
replaced by 1800.
