The game we have been waiting for is finally here. This might be the most awaited
game. The two Football Giants are facing each other in the 16th Euro
Cup 2020 (2021) today at Football Arena Munich. France vs. Germany: the last
two FIFA World Cup Winners are facing each other in their opening game in this
Euro Cup 2020. This is the best Euro Cup ever!
Portugal vs. Hungary
Okay,
I couldn’t stop myself from talking about the earlier game between Portugal and
Hungary. It was special in its own ways. Cristiano Ronaldo sets a milestone in
the history of the European Championship as the highest scorer while starting with
a win over Hungary by 3-0. Even at the age of 36, the GOAT Cristiano Ronaldo
still has that energy which he proved today. At the same time, he has become the
first one to have ever played in the five Euro Cups. Mathematically, that
amounts to almost 17 years! That’s long!
Back to Munich
Okay,
we are back to France vs. Germany. France is already ahead of Germany by a goal
that Germany’s own Hummels netted 20 minutes into the game in his own post. I
don’t know what to say. I am speechless! Müller almost equalized it but he has
to wait a while, I guess. Didier Deschamps’ boys are doing their job well here
against Joachïm Low. The French still seem to have that winner's spirit
from the World Cup 2018. With Karim Benzema back to the team and Hugo Lloris,
Mbappe, Pogba, Kante, and Antoine Griezmann, Germany seem to be having a tough
time today at their home ground. France has clearly upped their game and is
now dominating the German team.
But that’s not all. The game is still being played and Joachïm Low has some best talents in his team. Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Toni Kroos, Kimmich, and Hummels. But France isn’t letting them score right away. Not anytime soon!
France would have multiplied the score if it was not for the offside. Benzema had started to celebrate, but I guess they are well enough with one! It's about time!
Update: France takes over Germany with 1-0 score. Thanks to Hummel's own goal!
It’s half-time!
While
the guys are in their dressing room, Low must be briefing his guys on the
second-half strategy in the game because they seriously need to do something
and get through the counterattack from the French front. They can’t afford to
make another mistake. Not anymore. French… They need to keep it up and not
celebrate early. We have seen that anything can happen in a matter of few
seconds in the game.
For
now, let me go back to the game and enjoy it… And one more thing… France has
never lost their opening match in Euro Cup. So let’s hope that they keep this
legacy this time as well!
